Ponce, Puerto Rico. A land and utility municipal housing project. By Jack Delano, 1941. Library of Congress.
This section of the project will examine landed property and its multivalent elite and popular values in Puerto Rico between 1898 and 1980. In Puerto Rico, as elsewhere in Latin America, calls for land redistribution transmogrified into demands forequitable housing access. The project will trace this shift, as well as government policies of redistribution and their unintended consequences, most notably the financialization of housing and land.
