I am a first-year doctoral student in African History at Emory University. I have worked on the abolition of slavery in nineteenth-century Senegal and examined how the flight of enslaved Africans seeking liberation challenged the bounds of French colonial authority, commercial control, and political influence. Interested in the history of emancipation, I have turned my attention to labor migrations in and from French West Africa in the second half of the nineteenth century.
I received a bachelor’s in French with Honors and Distinction with a minor in History from Stanford University.
