Manrique de Lara Ruiz got aHalle Institute for Global Research Fellowship to conduct research in the United Kingdom during the summer of 2024. In London, he visited the National Archives at Kew and additionalarchives at SOAS and the LSE Women’s Library. He reviewed courtcases, correspondence, newspaper articles, memoirs, and anthropologists’ fieldnotes related to land tenure and customary law in colonial Botswana, Lesotho, and South Africa. He also conducted research on the Papers of the Anti-Slavery Society at the Bodleian Libraries, Oxford.
