Ademiluwa Post

I am excited to be part of the Land Dispossession, Inequality, and the Legacies of Slavery in Africa and Latin America Project. This project, funded by the Provost Grant, allowed me to conduct archival research in Lagos and Ibadan, Nigeria, and to attend the Lagos Studies Association 8th Annual Conference in Lagos. I also had the opportunity to visit Orile Ijaiye in Oyo State, Nigeria, where a memorial stone was dedicated to the 19th-century missionaries Rev. and Mrs. Thomas Bowen in 1979. This act, performed by the Sunday School Department of the National Baptist Convention, is a testament to the enduring impact of Atlantic encounters, particularly Christianity and missionaries, in Nigeria.
